A very warm welcome is extended to all visitors to our website. This website has been put together for parents / caregivers and students to assist you to know more about your school. We hope that you will find this a useful reference and I trust that there is enough information to answer most of your questions.
Addington School opened in 1881 and has developed a fine tradition in educational, cultural and recreational activities, and has maintained a proud place in the Addington Community. The School’s success can be attributed to the tremendous co-operation, enthusiasm and efficient service of all connected with Addington School both then and now.
The parents of several of today’s students once attended Addington School themselves and our emphasis on a well balanced programme has meant that most people can look back on a very happy time at Addington School. The very nature of the school encourages “community” in its broadest sense. Catering for an age range of 6 years in the mainstream school and 8 years in Conductive Education enables the students to grow and develop together over a long period of time. The opportunities and experiences that students share during these years, cement relationships that outlive their school days. Our school and community hall facility encourages greater use of the school’s facilities by a wide range of local cultural, sporting and recreational groups, for community activities.
The inclusion of the Conductive Education Unit at Addington School has added a whole new dimension to our school community and culture. These physically disabled children are fully integrated members of our school and take part in all general school activities. This is reinforced through the efforts of an experienced, dedicated and talented staff who through modern, appropriate teaching strategies provide interesting learning experiences for our students.
We have very supportive, caring Board of Trustees members who work hard in the interests of all the students of Addington School. We are proud of our well maintained buildings with their bright murals, grounds and facilities. Recent changes in education have provided challenges and exciting new opportunities for our school. The Board and Staff are proactive in continuing to build Addington’s excellent reputation in providing QUALITY TEACHING AND LEARNING for our students.
