Our house is a landmark home designed by well-known New Zealand architect Heathcote Helmore. It is constructed of pink Hanmer marble in which you can see fossilised shells.
Our beautiful, riverside garden gives you seclusion and tranquillity unrivalled by other city accommodation. Guests are invited to relax in the garden or to cross over the brick bridge and visit historic Riccarton House and Bush. Anselm House is just minutes walk from the ancient native forest of Riccarton Bush – Canterbury’s sole remnant of kahikatea floodplain forest.
Your New Zealand hosts, Jan and Leigh, are friendly and professional. We have travelled extensively throughout New Zealand and are able to help you with your travel plans. We enjoy opening our home to guests, who come from all over the world to stay in Anselm House. We take pride in our business and in the way we have integrated environmentally responsible practices into the day-to-day running of our bed and breakfast.
