Went to Cathedral Cars as they had something that interested me. I was looking for something that I could drive away with no waiting. After seeing a previous dealership with a bad attitude to customer care, and lack of willingness to help or suggest and make a sale! It was nice to experience what I would say was a nice clean cut of service with a helpful small team. Thank you to the chap who looked after us to start with, and to the sales man. The Mondeo is a lovely car.

It was an awful experience buying a car from this rubbish company

The salesmen in this company are the most dishonest and disgraceful person I have ever meet. Shame on you! I saw other negative reviews on Google about this car dealer, I feel so regret I bought a car from it. When I walked in the company and made a quick decision to buy a Ford Focus which was recommended by Peter. He said he has a similar age daughter as me, and I asked, which car do you recommend to your daughter if she needs a car? He said, just this Ford Focus. Then I paid that car by cash. And the boss of the company said we will look after you because you young lady walked in and bought a car by yourself. Then one month later, the car was broken with main transmission problem on the way home. The worst thing is my 2 years old daughter was in the car! Shame on you Peter, Shame on your innocent daughter! Then the Ford Focus stayed in Mechanic for over one month. They said they can’t get a new transmission spare part so they give it a second hand one. When I picked it up after he said it was fixed. I found it can’t be started. Peter gave it a jump start and asked me to drive it home. I doubted whether the battery has some problem, he said no problem at all. Then last Sunday, when I was in the supermarket car park and ready to go home, I found I can’t start the car again! I promise I didn’t let the lights on. I called Peter and he said “I can’t do anything to help you, I am having lunch with my friends” And his boss is away too. Fine! you are having fun on weekend, I am stuck in nowhere with your rubbish car!!! Shame on you the Boss, is this the way how you look after me???? Then I called a jump start service and paid $120 by myself. The furious thing is this morning, when I was ready to send my daughter to preschool and then go to work, the damn car can’t be started again!!!! Cathedral Car Company, if you are not a shame of New Zealand, please do two things: 1. Apologize to me and others who had bad experience from you. 2. Refunding me

Dangerous vehicles sold after receiving WOF from suspect mechanic, read other search reviews

I would give negative stars if I could, one of the shareholders/director of Cathedral cars is the exact stereotype of a nasty, dishonest little car salesman…Bought two vehicles 10K 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 8K 2010 Peugeot 207, same day, cash sale…after a month one needs complete new brakes, the other requires both CV joints and new rear tyre for flat spot (which he said he would fix) and they fried my battery in the Jeep after having a go at a repair, these things found by my independant mechanic after his chum ‘mechanic’ Waltham Mechanical gave both new WOFs, when I complained he told me I bought ‘bush bash, old worn out vehicles’ and I should expect that ‘take it to court you won’t win’ I paid full/high market value!! and I certainly didn’t see that advertising on his billboard, “come on in buy your bush bash vehicles here!!!” 18K is not chump change ahole! refuses to repair after first attempt, had to go to court, court finds in my favour, didn’t pay when he was ordered to. Wondering if he purchased the last five reviews?? avoid like Covid !! They even ‘permanently closed business’ on Google so reviews don’t show, Slippery git is still in business and still a registered company

It was a rude and disrespectful experience

Brought a car from this company about a month ago now and was assured multiple times that it was mechanically sound. However after driving it for less than 2 weeks it overheated and ended up with a hole in the radiator, the mechanic told me that I should contact the company and let them know what had happened so I did so and they agreed to pay for half of the mechanical bills but only if I changed mechanic so I did. After around a week the radiator was replaced along with the thermostat as that was also faulty being the reason as to the malfunction in the radiator. This gave an extra cost which Cathedral Car Company refused to pay after speaking to the mechanic. I contacted Cathedral Car company myself after hearing this as it was not the mechanics job to sort out, after speaking with Peter he agreed that they will pay for half of the extra cost as well as half the radiator cost, but conveniently his boss wasn’t around and he couldn’t contact him to pay the extra on this Friday and I would have to wait till next week to pay for the repairs and receive my car. Luckily the mechanic went against their policy and returned me my car telling me that if Cathedral Car Company does not pay next week that I will have to pay the remainder. Next week unsurprisingly I received an email saying that Cathedral Car Company had refused to pay the extra once again so I rang them up once again and spoke to Peter, he said to me “the boss said that we cannot pay the extra”, I asked multiple times for the bosses number and he refused to give it to me and ended the call multiple times. After ringing again and letting him know that he lied to me and refused to give me his bosses number even though I am led to believe that he owns the company himself. He told me “maybe you shouldn’t be in this country if you cannot afford to fix your own car” and constantly repeated “do your worst mate, they will not do anything” referring to me taking him to court/reporting him to another company. All in all I found Peter from Cathedral Car Company rude and it was without a doubt the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I do not recommend considering to buy from this company. Even the mechanics who spoke to him were appalled.
