When Chris Houston opened his first Coffee Culture in 1996 well-meaning locals asked him what else he was going to sell. They were certain that he’d need to offer more than freshly roasted coffee to stay afloat. Turns out he also sold tea; and tee-shirts, delicious desserts and big bagels. But it started with the coffee, and today the Coffee Culture formula is pretty much the same. Light lunch, scrummy snacks and tasty treats. And a whole lotta love.

There are now stores all over Christchurch, in Timaru, Dunedin, Hamilton and Charlestown in New South Wales. Each store is owned and operated by people who share Chris’s passion for great coffee served in great places. At the start of 2012 Chris and his family moved to the North Island to bring Coffee Culture to the Waikato/Bay of Plenty region.
