The purpose of Halswell Residential College is to provide special education within a residential setting for students who need significant curriculum adaptation due to an underlying intellectual impairment and whose educational, social and emotional needs, including behaviour, cannot be met in their current environment.
Halswell Residential College works to:
Increase learning achievement by providing a significantly modified/adapted curriculum programme to enable optimum learning to occur.
Significantly enhance the student’s personal and social skills and improve each student’s ability to manage his or her behaviour appropriately in a variety of individual and social situations; and
Enable the student to reintegrate into an age appropriate education environment and their home community.
We have residential accommodation for up to a maximum of 32 students, their ages range from 7 to 17 years. The College is co-educational from the beginning of 2017.
Halswell Residential College offers a 24 hour 7 day a week curriculum which is supported by specialist resources, individualised programmes and highly trained staff, all in a stable and nurturing environment.
