Principal’s Welcome
Kia ora koutou katoa. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
I have recently joined Prebbleton School and am excited about taking up the second year of my role as Principal of this lovely school in 2017.
Prebbleton School has been here since 1857, when it first opened it was a small rural school. In the last decade Prebbleton has grown with many new housing areas popping up. We are now a thriving school of 490 students! Our buildings are a mix of new and old. We have good sized grounds with plenty of play areas. The staff and students at Prebbleton are proud of our school and coming here each day is a delight.
Our Maori name (Te Kura o Taumata-kuri) means “The school where he (Kiwhare) gazed on speargrass which showed him the way from Taumutu to Kaiapoi”. This was a gift from the Kaumatua of the Taumutu – our local Runanga.
Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
Kind regards,
Kim Alexander, Principal
